I always wanted to be a Cowgirl, but by some strange accident, I was bo in Philadelphia and lived most of my adult life in Jersey. Not exactly the Wild West, but I did, I found a job in Colorado wrangling horses. I would never call myself a true? Cowgirl? because at the age of 49 I? ll never be there. And I very much respect what the real cowboys and girls are doing. But I argue horses and can take care of them, and I can teach the basics of other people. Not bad for a girl Philly. No, no matter where you live, the first step, a cow-boy (forget the sex, what a minute, if you can), it is with horses. Take, if they can afford it. If not, volunteer to clean stalls ba at any time anywhere. Within distance of major cities? Find an Art stables I volunteer in the Atlantic Riding for Disabled. This organization uses horses as physical therapy for disabled children and adults. It 'been specially trained teachers, but they always need help cleaning stalls, saddling horses and walk beside the rider for safety. Ask what you can get a real comfort with horses.Next, start your mind-training. Read, read, read the cowboy lifestyle, living in the West, about one? Day for Life? a cowboy. You? Ll find out more? Really? Cowboys are bo and raised in the West, and were the horses, before they walk. Is this possible? T really want, but you can absolutely be a ranch hand, a Wrangler and a horse trainer dude. ? Friend? West is in every city Slicker or non-person or horse ranch. In Jersey? Friend? was a sailor from tendeess. Not so much from the West. This is what can be leaed with the Cowboy culture.A? Wrangler? is a person? not always be a cowboy? That some basic skills around horses. He can groom, saddle and care for them, we understand Tack (horse equipment, saddles, blankets, bridles, etc.) and is committed to safety on a horse, and when teaching others. Cowboys do not argue, but a lot 'more. They are usually for an entire flock in a ranch (and can? T is the difficulty of horses) and have tons of general maintenance of tractors, fences, hay, and a structure on a ranch. It 'sa difficult life.Start some areas of the country where you can work with horses. Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and not the lion? S Percentage of dude ranching, so this is a natural fit for cowboys in training. But wherever you live in this country, there is probably somewhere green, with a work horse. You search and find. If you can afford to travel, go west young man or a woman (or in my case, the middle-aged woman). Take a horse pack trip? they? Not so expensive? and become familiar with the process of horses during their travel. Here I met people working with now. I have a package of five days traveling the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. When I left the mountain, life would not be the same.If you are young, you? Re probably not yet in the saddle (sorry) with debts and family responsibilities. Even with little experience can find work in a ranch of a hand or a beginner Wrangler. You will, and willing to work hard. There are some places? including my own ranch, through Mountain Spirit Adventures (where actually a Wrangler School. Our Academy is a six-day intensive program designed to provide basic skills to people in horse-adventure industry. These courses are very useful and certainly well on a Wrangler resume. If really want to be a part of the culture Wrangler Cowboy or you must be prepared for the long hard hours, outdoors, in all weather conditions. Summers Dude Ranch in the area are incredibly busy? 16-hours days and nights sleeping under the stars (not a bad Perk, eh?) There are some great websites for jobs in open spaces, and how. You won? t believe what is available. You can also use a search on google dude ranches in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. You may need to cook like a summer of work and the way up to wrangling.I was a teacher in high school and (GULP) a power of attoey for litigation 16 years ago, my dream, a Wrangler is in force. If this nearly 50-year-old Jersey girl can drive for a living certainly can too.
