That s Entertainment
That s Entertainment Welcome to That's Entertainment! In this issue, we will study the first part of a series of three parts - Audition Tips - Straight from the Source. We talked to Judy Thomas, production coordinator and artistic director with the talent of Walt Disney World on Ice, to lea more about the process of listening. At present seven performances running the world, Walt Disney World On Ice (WWOI) employs about 400 athletes, men and women. If you are interested in becoming one of the next recruit, read on. You will discover the facts about what it takes to become a professional Disney performer. 6.0 Skate: What should skaters interested in organizing a listening? Judy Thomas: Please send a video resume and current photo [see below for the address]. Some skaters your phone, know that the spectacle of entry in, for example, in the area of Boston, Christmas, and call and ask for a hearing date and time. Over the years, we have names and phone numbers, and then, when they have a date and time, and call and let them know. 6.0: Who performs the test site? Judy: manager performance shows that the line masters. 6.0: What to see in a video audition? Judy: Well, what we ask is that the first show, and just tell us a little 'about themselves. Give a little 'more in the first person to see the video, and perhaps also in terms of why you want to perform professionally with Disney on Ice. We ask that all elements in a practice session and the completion of these as if his performance against a house of 18,000 people. So we ask that includes the choice of competitive programs, as well as any type of exhibition programs. Because we are able to understand a program that shows the performance and entertainment capabilities, it is much appreciated. 6.0: What you do not want to see? Judy: I would say that it is better to send a tape of several of his current work as opposed to competition from four years ago. E 'interessante ... Can I get a tape in the fall for someone, and some think they should change, but how to respond to fall, sometimes shows me exactly what I see. If you have the ability to stand up and act as if it never happened, that is wonderful! 6.0: How many skaters will hire each year? Judy: It 'really depends on our tuover. The amount of hearing range, and is interesting because you can almost see the cycle .... In Toronto, four years ago that may have had 45 hearings, where all graduating in progress ... and that usually the elderly in all the clubs, and almost had to wait until the next generation grow older. Therefore, in every town hearing, I would say that we have hundreds of hearings a year worldwide. [It also depends on] the number of shows we are building. 6.0: How many shows currently on the road? Judy: We have seven shows - five national and two foreign tour. He makes a tour in Japan, Asia, Australia, and has toured Europe and then a national sample of our United States is not part of South America. 6.0: In your opinion, is 17 years of age to travel with an exhibition? Judy: I think it really depends on the person and not everyone is quite old. During the process of hearing, an attempt to determine a level of maturity and a level of professionalism. We have a lot of skaters, like coming to work with us, after having completed college and who have the experience behind them, which really helps. I would say our average age is probably higher than 17 or 18, probably more like 21 or 22. 6.0: What you should bring skaters during a hearing? Judy: Skate clothing, both men and women, which allows movement, but not baggy or loose clothing. [We] lines of his body when his movement and artists to see how they move. This is a job interview. 6.0: What 'spaces are available? Judy: main positions that require a strong dramatic skills with technical ability, both to work alone or pair work, or ice dancing. [Even] positions, positions alteate exits step, acrobatic skill, the precision of skills. 6.0: Most of the skaters have to skip choir? Judy: [Yes]. This has changed a little '. The wonderful thing is that the talent for skaters who want a real opportunity to skate, it's there. These requirements have increased every year they receive more and longer with more ability to act. 6.0: Brand skaters need to obtain work permits? Judy: No. Our company applies to processes and manages all the permissions for all countries. [In providing information for legal representatives] is a long, long, even in recent years. 6.0: What type of compensation is offered? Judy: It 'really based on many factors. Includes benefits. We pay in U.S. dollars worldwide. 6.0: How to decide which show to be awarded to skaters? Judy: We cast appropriately when someone strengths contribute to the majority. Looking for someone who really has a passion for performance. 6.0: Why is someone you tu? Judy: I do not know what we did. We encourage people to listen to it again. We respond to all the hearings, the first letter of recognition of the hearing and that all our contact information and indicate if there is anything in his hearing so that we would like to see worked on, then give details. 6.0: How long to wait before hearing skating again? Judy: I would say that if a show back in your area, and if we have not had an opening for you, if you're still interested, please come into play a number, which increases their enthusiasm for work and another director a chance to see the results. 6.0 are the minimum height? Judy: No. Now, with the creative part of the exhibition, the height is not [important]. We have a girl who is 5'10 "and a girl who is 4'9 5th 6.0 is the weight of six pounds still in place for skaters, and Saturday moing weigh-ins done yet? Judy: Actually, we do it in eight pounds. It was most likely evolved emphasizing healthy bodies and healthy minds. We all expect. No longer do weekly weigh-ins. 6.0: What is it that skaters payment terms "rent"? Judy: Again, it is part of the package of benefits. 6.0: Do you have something to say about the future of Disney skaters?
